I'm feeling 100% after they put in those two stents. No more issues but you better have insurance cause it was $67,000 out the door. Holy Cow.

Steve VW where did you get your Torque Converter from? I just noticed that your Torque Converter has 6 pads and mine has 3 pads. Is this normal for this RV or has someone replaced it with the wrong converter? Seems to me that 6 pads must be better than 3 pads, being it's pushing 15,000 pounds. And should I be buying a Lockup or Non-Lock-up converter? The one recommended on RockAuto is a Non-Lock-up type but that can't be correct for an RV application. This is a definite upset and has to be looked at closely. I'm sure I'll have to replace seals on the shaft. I got a headache.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I got the trans and convertor from TCI. Part #s are in this thread:

https://www.barthmobile.com/eve...723999787#8723999787

I too was concerned that most of th e torque convertors were only 3 bolts but that's what GM used in the 90's. The TH400 does not use locking torque convertor. Later 480LE units did.

The TCI convertor is heavy duty and has 6 bolts. No lockup but it is 4% tighter than the stock. I saw slight reduction in engine RPM at cruise speed. It worked well for me.

Well the transmission is in. Some of the teeth were worn but the main problem I found was that the starter bolts were of the wrong size and the knurled part of the bolt was not exposed so the starter shifted and caused the flex disk to wear until it slipped. New correct bolts corrected that. They are ARP-430-3507 Starter Bolts, Stainless Steel 3/8-16" 4-5/8" Long.
There's also a starter brace that installs from the side of the engine to the tail end of the starter. I knew that stud back there was for something!

A new pan and filter and new rear seal and I'm done for now.
