Greetings from Exeter NH. Just got towed here with a broken left rear leaf spring. The Barth Gods are not smiling on me today! More news as it happens.

I just got off the phone with Richard. He has a leafspring being sent to him from Spartan for Thursday. He is towing a car and will be leaving the repair shop soon for a place farther North to visit friends.

Richard will return when his Barth is repaired, so he seems to be doing ok!!! Thumbs Up

New Hampshire is really a nice place to visit and spend your money, you can even stay a while and enjoy the mountains or ocean.
Oh, I guess that's what you are doing.

Today, I learned something before the first cup of tea was gone.

New Hampshire is on the ocean.

We don't want everyone to know about our seacoast, because then their would not be enough room for the locals to enjoy our 18 miles total, of coastal splendor.

Yeah, NH!

I lived there for the first 57 years of my life and loved it (33 yrs in Manchester 14 in Portsmouth & 10 in Dover).

I don't know much about AL'S in Exeter but Donovan Spring is Top Notch. I know that you are committed to AL's but you might want to go to Donovan Spring and have the suspension on the rig gone over thoroughly. I was in the fence business about 40 years ago and we had a lot of heavy duty trucks that we used to bring to Donovan for welding, frame work and new truck bodies(we bought just naked chassis and added custom bodies). We also used Palmer Spring which was equally good. Both of them were in Manchester at the time but Donovan may have moved to Londonderry as Jack said in his post.

Enjoy your stay in NH and be sure to see Hampton Beach & Portsmouth before you leave.

Thanks to everyone for the offers of help. I'm in Canada now visiting one of my cousins who is not doing too well. Otherwise, I would have stayed closer to home. Thanks again.

The parts should be in today and they said it would take four hours to fix. We're in Canada visiting relatives.

The saga continues...... The springs came in today but they did not include the rear bushings. What can I expect for 958 dollars? Spartan has one bushing in stock so Al's will replace the one bad spring and I'll lug the other one home and get my guys to replace it when we can get the bushing in a week or so. Oh well!

Richard ... go to DONOVAN SPRING!

We went to a spring specialist in Maine, similar to Donovan, and they repaired both front springs for UNDER $200. New springs would have cost about $400 each. Get towed to Manchester or Londonderry, have Donovan fix it and send the $1000 spring back to Spartan!

... just my opinion.

Hi,

We tried Donavan and he was two weeks behind. The only place in the entire country where I could get a spring was from Spartan. I have not been lucky on this one.
