Forgive me if this topic has been discussed before but I am seriously considering purchasing a 1995 Breakaway which is in need of some TLC. one of my big sticking points is the driver side windshield is cracked. Are there ways of getting new windshields made, or is there possibly an off the shelf alternative.

Any advise would be great!

Welcome to the site, good luck with your purchase.

Driver side DW731 Pass side DW730. These were OEM for 70-80's GM Astro trucks with the tilt cab. As of a short time ago, they were still available. I had a spare pass side when I sold my Regal. I paid about $225 for it about 5 years ago.

Search those numbers on this site for info.

You should be able to get prices from distributors. Good luck.

DW730 & 731 are readily available. Still being mfg’d for current Spartan fire truck cabs & other specialty vehicles.
Had them installed on both a ‘78-24’ and ‘93 Breakaway. Never paid more than $250 per side installed.

I had a lot of rust repair to do before replacing the windshields in my 85. The 86 is slated for the same work. Pulled top cap, and end caps. Lots of sanding, some welding in new metal, rust converter, paint, reinstall, then I was able to feel good about putting in the new windshields. It's a weekend or two. I will dig my pictures out and post them eventually...
