Nose Does it Again
Old Nose is not done giving me fits!

I have never had high idle, decided to put in a new ported vacuum switch and see if it worked, did so and replumbed the circuit and now I have high idle, the engine starts out smooth and for the first time runs without stalling and needing restarting when it is cold, but after a bit it starts to bog down like several of the cylinders flood out, seems to be on the passenger side only. As it warms up it smooths out, when it has warmed and the throttle is tapped it goes off high Idle as it should. But the loss of power when it is bogging is not acceptable.
Something is not right not sure what??

Started to winterize and went to fill up the gas tanks, spotted a leak in the side tank as I was filling it. Seems the filler tube going from the fuel receptacle to the tank was leaking, took the fuel door housing off and removed the rubber tube spanning the inlet to the tank. It was rotted, I think it was a radiator hose and not meant for gasoline, well it took 38 years to rot so I should not complain. Replacing the tube and plastic housing, trying to line it up and make it fit with out binding is one awful job hope to finish it today. This tank was installed by Barth not GM.

From my past post, I did get the new fridge to work, It needs to be really level though, more so than my old one. Got a cabinet above it now, had to make the doors myself, not a perfect match but acceptable, sure needed the dry storage.

Nose always wants attention!!!!!

Well success on the fuel leak, all back together and looks like it was never apart!! All sealed up from water penetration underneath and around the fuel door.

Now to work on the lopie-lopie-lopie, bog down, if it works out as well as the leak, whoopie, although that leak did take a lot of time to fix!!! Gonna try cutting the high idle back some, perhaps the choke is not letting it get enough air and it is flooding. Tomorrows job!!!!

Harold, Cat and Sam I could drink more beer instead of working on Nose!!!!

Well we got about 6 inches of snow, came from Minnesnowta, thanks Dana!!

I worked on the "lopie lopie" at cold engine idle, think I have it straightened out, give it a final test today and then take Nose to its winter home, when they get the streets cleared. Adjustments to the throttle settings and the high idle kick out from the ported vacuum switch seem to have done the job.

Next season I hope to be able to use Ole Nose a lot more.

We got 6 inches on Oct 31, then another 11 inches Nov 5-6. Temps 20 degrees below normal. Highs 20's, lows in the teens. I can't wait to see what we get this winter...! confusion

I got the coach south just in time. Left on Sunday snowed on Wednesday. It is nice to look at the empty parking spot by the garage and picture the coach in the warm sun with green grass around.

I am ready to leave now but Liz says I have to wait...

Duane we hope to see you again next year. My coach is almost done with chassis work and only a few projects left. Good luck with the Nose! Mechanic

Have Barth, will travel Tooling Along

It went to 14F last night and about 1 inch of snow. Beautiful full moon here in TN.
But I hear the Old Nose begging for warmer weather, her old parts creaking. We reserved us a spot in the sun already, Birds go south for the winter Tooling Along
Liz must like fresh air ... what are you two waiting for??? 10 feet of snow in the driveway? LOL Sorry
Might need a heater more than a fridge for the beer in IA

I was 5 miles from the Canadian border at deer camp off the grid.

I'm back. Windy and cold. Was 6 below when I went out one morning and zero when I came back in. Nice and toasty warm in Camp Barth. If they had just insulated like they should have in the later Barth's we would all be happier. Even with single pane windows in Camp Barth she is warmer than Midnight my Monarch.

I'm pretty sure that snow came from Iowa into Minnesnowta. So I'm blaming you Duane!

Getting the brakes fixed on our new to us toad and are planning to take off after Thanksgiving. Got reservations for 2 weeks on the beach in FL, then it is "winging" it until Flywheelers in January (also FL).
