Breakaway Brake Hose
Trust y'all doing well.
Might anyone have a part number for a Breakaway front (left) brake hose - Napa, Spartan, or anyone else?
Thanks for your thoughts. Salute

sorry i do not have any info on part numbers but

the physic of brakes hoses is

they all are very very similar . ( all will hold the same pressure . )

if you measure the length and buy one that length or a little longer , and it has the same fitting as the original on the ends , it is good to go .

if it is longer , make sure it does not rub on anything ie zip ties .

take it to a big NAPA store , in the middle of the morning , when they are not busy , bring a dozen donuts and say ahah enough times and walk out with a hose , some zip ties and a quart of dot 3 and you are good to go .

i am sure some will horrors over this answer but the physics is correct

Call Spartan with your VIN# and they may be able to give you their part number. OTOH, they used suspension components from other manufacturers and often renumbered them. You may at least be able to find a cross reference. If you can get the dimensions, as Jack suggests, a good hose guy can make one.

If it helps , I believe the brake calipers are medium duty Ford's , such as f650 or f750 .

Understanding the ever-growing importance for members to post information to source our dinosaurs' parts I had looked forward to doing so - but, naturally a twist.

I decided to attempt to get the caliper to hang up (jacked wheel, had helper activate brakes). The brake performed flawlessly. Please note that the brake hose was replaced in 2012, caliper in 2017.

And so, I ask:
What is the life expectancy of a brake hose?
Could the temperature of the fluid affect the performance of the hose?
Thanks.

I replaced all rubber brake hoses in 2016. I flush the brake system every year and noticed that in 2016 the brake fluid was very dark and had black pacticales in the fluid.

I didn't bother with Spartan I just took all the rubber hoses to Royal Brass our local hose and connector store. I had them make stainless braided hoses the same length and same fittings. I did this on my race cars years ago as stainless steel hoses do not expand anywhere near what rubber hoses do under high pressure.

On the race cars the brakes were much more responsive and brake were much more firm in application.

It took over 1 gallon of Dot 4 to finally flush all the rubber particles out of the Breakaway hydraulic system. I did notice the brakes did feel a bit more firm after the change to braided stainless steel hoses. Of course with air over hydraulic the brakes will have a lot more spongy feel than true hydraulic only system.
