Steve VWMonarch VDO speedometer
My VDO speedometer stills works but the LCD odometer display has failed. For some time it flickered, lately not at all.
115,320 miles and done.
The old speedo is labelled 211-012-341. White pointer, blue line with odd numbers 5, 15, 25, etc.
I was not able to find an exact replacement. I found a very similar one, 211-012-341D. It has an orange pointer and even numbers 10, 20, 30, etc.
It does not match as well as I would like, but easy to replace. (+ and - power wires, one wire input from trans, 2 wires for backlights.) The unit will need to be calibrated for correct speed. This is easily done using the front button on the gauge.
Steve that looks like mine (maybe). I know I have orange also. Bobs has been replaced. Mine had been replaced I believe. I think Wally has original. We will have to go from memory on Bobs when at Milford as he had prior commitments.

Gary CarterAfter 13 years I finally noticed the orange. Speedo had been replaced, so never saw the original.

Doug SmileyDid you consider getting a GPS speedometer??
I replaced my original with a GPS one
...no wiring hookups just a small receiver laying on the dash...

Steve VWActually, I did. (As you may recall, I replaced both speedo and tach on the 86 Regal with custom Speedhut gauges. The speedo was a GPS and they both work great.)
The VDO guage was less expensive and can be changed out in about 10 minutes. I already have a GPS on the front window so I took the easy route.

Tom and JulieIt’s an easy job to put your face and hands on a new unit. Just about any shop can do that.
