Both the skylights on our coach had deteriorated and cracked around the mounting flange. Both my wife and I never cared for the larger one that was centered in the bathroom, so I decided to do away with it.

Finding replacements on the internet seemed to be impossible when searching for RV skylights. Lot of hits but nothing like the ones on our Barths. Finally Tom Johns found the key. You must search for a "curb mounted" skylight. That will produce a number of suppliers that make the type used by Barth.

Fox Lite, Inc is a current supplier to many of the RV manufacturers and actually had a Skylight in stock that I could make work. The original skylight over the shower measured 17x25 to the outside of the mounting curb on the coach. Fox Lite stocked a model that is 17 1/2 x 25 1/2. I made up the difference by putting a 1/4" furring strip around the mounting curb.

As you can see the center skylight is gone and the hole has been patched using a sheet of aluminum diamond plate.

Also note that the new skylight that I used is flat on top. Fox Lite has two models. The traditional domed shape and the flat model that they call "emerald cut" model.

Over all very pleased.

Oh yea, almost forgot. Cost $69.00

Nice job Nick. Something I have thought about. I keep that center one covered so I don't get the heat gain or when it's cold heat loss.

The one in the shower I need the height addition while showering. The slight raised floor of the shower puts my head above the roofline. confusion so that one has to stay. Now I know how to find one when needed.

What did you do to finish off inside where you took the center one out?

Remember, I was also replacing the headliner, so I filled in the hole with a piece of plywood after removing the skylight.

IIRC, BillyT has also removed this skylight and I think he installed a recessed light in the ceiling and put a light panel trimmed to fit the hole that came from one of the big box home improvement stores.

Yeah I was surprised at the old even hand drawn info on their site. Quality product though.

If it hadn't been for Tom how would we ever have known to search for CURB?

I tried several descriptors, but none gave me good search results. That was not one I would ever have thought of.
