This is Tere-
https://www.barthmobile.com/eve...133973067#6133973067Pls. look at pictures in above link of the "air box" to air intake. I would like to buy one of these air intake "boxes". Anyone know where I might find one similar?

Steve VWThose are mostly air filters, not generic air boxes...
It is a good idea to have an intake runner hose for the carb. Hot air from the engine bay is less dense so there is less oxygen for combustion. The intake hose usually runs to somewhere outside the engine bay to get cooler, denser air. The outer end of the hose is where the air box is usually located. Depending on where the end of the air intake hose ends up, it may be desirable to have an air box.
The air box often has a couple of turns and a drain area. It serves several purposes: It keeps large junk from being sucked into your air intake hose (also keeps rodents from building nests, etc.) It keeps water from getting sucked in if you run over a big puddle. Modern designs also muffle some intake noise.
That said, if your intake hose is routed to a protected location and is pointing downward, it is probably not needed. (I would still put some coarse screen over the end to keep rodents out)

Jim and TereThanks for the feedback. The snout of the air intake cover has a lot of misc., i think, unused hoses in front of it right now. It's a bit of a mess & after I clear it I will extend with hose & cover with a coarse screen to block lg. debris
so that I get better airflow.
