Dash AC and Heat Controls Oh and steering.
I am in the process of reworking my dash ( gauges and switches that previous owner added and then give up on and never got working ) and I am moving the heat and ac controls.
1.Does any one have a diagram of the vacuum lines ( I assume that's what they are ) on the back of the control buttons?

2.Also there is a cable that was hooked up but was bent and non functional. Is there a replacement for that cable that exists? 1984 P30.

3. With the coach off how much play should the steering wheel have when moved from left to right? Mine has a lot, Like if the wheel is centered I get almost a half a turn before I feel the tire. Thanks all

1,2...FWIW, the vacuum heat controls I believe were OEM Chrysler units. You may be able to find something on those. I took one out of my Monarch, I think it is the same. (see below) If you want it, PM me and I'll get it to you. I think it still works, not sure. The mounting ears on the side of the front are cracked.

Number on top is: 4891-501

On the side it is: first line 3500 501, second line 09651

The cable goes to the valve in the coolant line near the heater core. You should be able to modify a generic cable if it is long enough and you bend the ends to fit.

3...That is a lot more steering play than normal. You have some slop somewhere in the steering system. Look at the steering box while someone is turning the wheel. If the steering arm attached to the steering box is moving, the play would be in the tie rod ends or the bearings supporting the steering cross link.

If the steering box arm is not moving, the sector gear in the box is probably worn. There is an adjustment on the side of the box. It is a stud with a locking nut and a screwdriver slot. If you loosen the lock nut you can screw in the stud to reduce sector gear clearance. Screw in until it bottoms, then back out slightly. With the front wheels off the ground turn from lock to lock. Get it as tight as you can without binding.

Hi Steve. If no one else wants the control unit, I would like it. It's probably in MI so there is no hurry. You can send it when you get home.

I don't need it, mine looks brand new and worked great before I took it out. Not sure it will ever work again though hahaha.
