The shower surround on our 89 Regal is just some sort of vinyl glued to a substrate. My guess is that eventually it would start to fail if water gets behind the vinyl. Old Blue had a complete fiberglass shower/bath but I'm not up to tearing out what we have. Any thoughts? Maybe fiberglass panels attached to the existing?

The big DIY stores have plastic shower surrounds that can be cut to size and installed with chalk and glue. Might find one that works for your regal. Most are 3 piece units. Install over the existing stuff!
