Has anyone purchased the Jack antenna. This thing doesn't make sense. It braggs about being smaller than the Winegard wing but says it gets better reception. How does that work?

Hey Ug, If you just want an HDTV antenna, it should be fine, but I doubt it will work on a regular TV, even with a converter. Jim has a simular antenna on his HiLo. It's just a little box about the size of a hardcover book that he atteched to a pole to get it up in the air. He has a HD flat screen and when it gets a signal the picture is great, but it doesn't get near as far as my bat-wing. Also, he only paid about 30 bucks for it at Wall-Mart. Here's some info on the Jack.

That's the one. They state that it is better than the wing. I don't see how that is possible. An antenna is basically a net - the bigger the net, the more you catch. They also talk about it being for digital signals tv signals. An antenna doesn't care what form the signal is in as long as it is within its resonant frequency range. To an antenna everything is a radio signal. It just deposits that signal into a transmission line connected to whatever you have that is going to interpret that signal. I think I'll just go get a new wing.
