I’ve a Barth breakaway. The Atwood hot water heater is a CH6-6E and is working but requires a new gas valve. ( sticking) Since I don’t know the vintage of this hot water heater unit, I was considering a replacement. The -6E seems obsolete so my question is, what is the next step or equivalent? IE; the -8E ? Does anyone have a breakdown on what the designations mean?
Thanks!

It may be a lot cheaper to replace the gas valve. Chances are it is still being produced. Really only 2 choices: pilot style and electronic spark style. These things have aluminum tanks and rarely corrode through.

Search for CH6-6E shows gas valve part number 93844 available:

https://www.amazon.com/Atwood-...-Valve/dp/B0007XVWWU

Easy to change. Thumbs Up

For about $60 more you can rebuild everything except circuit board. I did my 10 gallon Atwood a while back.

The new model numbers are indeed confusing.

Your choices include LP only, LP + 110V, and LP + 110V + engine heat. LP models with pilot may require no power. Those models with spark ignition will require 12V to power the ignitor circuit board.

Why do we need a hot water heater anyway? If it's already hot it doesn't need heating! ROTFLMAO

A cold water heater, now that could be handy… hmm
