I DID NOT KNOW THAT THE NEW WATER FILTER rattled when they were new.I took it back to check .It does rattle when new .When it has to be changed the beads in the filter dissolve and no more rattle it has to be changed .Does anybody know long you can go between changes .can't find it in my book?

We typically change these yearly - keep in mind that a lot of trucks will go 150,000 miles plus in a year.

So, pardon the pun... But, "Your Mileage May Vary" Big Grin

Bill I sometimes I Really whish I would not feel stupid. When I took it back and shook the filter and it rattled I thought it was a loose nut in the can.The only loose nut was me . That is the way they looked at me. I surely was not going to put a can with a loose nut in the Barth. But that is exactly what is !!!!!. UNDERSTAND

Funny you should mention it... but when I shook the first one I ever did, back so many years ago, I thought it sounded funny too.

I instinctively reached for another box and shook it as well. Same noise as the first box. Back then there was a little note inside of the box that said the beads would dissolve as needed.

You know Lenny, the only stupid question is one that is not asked. Sure, some might chuckle at what you said, but DON'T EVER stop asking questions.

Could you imagine if something bad had happened and you told the guy "well, the new filter rattled" and then he said "so why did you put on a broken part?"

My thoughts...
"When we all are so smug to judge someone by what he doesn't know - we should be judging them by what they refuse to learn." Bill N.Y.

See, you learned how not to leave the cap locks on all of the time. Big Grin

Not all diesel engines have a coolant filter - and, it's more of an additive package than a filter anyway - sure, it'll catch stuff but its primary purpose is to recharge the depleted coolant additives. If it's there, look for it around the right front of the engine... But, they could be found almost anywhere.

Just be thankful I don't need to tell you what diesel muffle juice is - or where it comes from. Big Grin
