My driver's side front tire disintegrated at 65 mph on I-77 on the way to Fancy Gap, VA. Nobody got hurt, minor damage to the Barth, but since I didn't have a spare tire, it cost almost $400 . When I got home, I tried to find a spare tire carrier, but couldn't find anything that I liked or anything that didn't cost a fortune. I saw a Roadmaster carrier that mounted on the receiver hitch, but it looked like a big lollipop sticking up between the rv and the toad. I decided to build my own and only spent about $60 on materials. I have a metal cutting bandsaw, drill press and mig welder, so I didn't have to pay anybody to cut it and weld it together. I drilled through the frame rail extensions and bolted it down with 1/2 inch bolts. It fits about 1 inch from the back of the Barth, and the tire only sticks out about an inch past the rear of the bumper. Hope my pictures come through. I set up a photobucket account, but am having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to add pictures. Thumbs Up Nice work Jerry Davis!. I do not carry a spare but might consider it if I had a carrier like you built. Although it would take two men and a boy to put one of my 22.5 tires on the rack or some kind of hoist.

By the way you do not need a Photobucket account. Send your images here:

barth_upload.61972@uploads.photobucket.com

from your ordinary email and put test in the subject (nothing else)

Send no more than 5 attached pictures in each mailing.

Thank you.

Please also send the photos you have already posted to the email address above so we can have copies too. Your link procedure will be the same. You will just to get the photos from the Barth Photobucket account.

Thanks for sharing your tire carrier. If you are willing to make them for members post a picture and cost on the Swap meet page.

CHEERS cheers

Thanks Kevin. I sent pictures to the Barth photobucket account but did not put "test" in the subject field. Guess that's why I couldn't find them. I went back to several previous posts and tried using the different links. The first one was a porn site, and the other 2 gave me a 404 error code, so I finally gave up and opened a free photobucket account and it works fine. I'll resend the pics to the Barth photobucket. As far as building the tire carrier for sale , I wouldn't be interested, but if anybody has any questions about the materials I used or measurements, I would be happy to supply that information.
