Trying to get back to the Barth but too many other things going at once.

(Warning: Imminent thread drift!)

Got the annual inspection done on my "other Barth." Wings are closed up but I still had the top cowl and the inside to finish, got it done today. Look at all those inspection holes!

On Monday we have a 12' wide load trailer to haul out to the bush for a hunting camp. Permits, flags, lights, oh boy what a hassle.

Still plan to have Barth running by the end of the month. Tooling Along

Well we got the trailer moved! Towed with truck 28 miles to the site. Left at 5:50 AM, no traffic. Thumbs Up

It is always good to have friends with power tools (the kind you can ride in!)

Now that it is on blocks, it's not a trailer, it's a cabin. Look ma, no wheels.

Now I can get back to the hot rod Barth job. Mechanic

Now that the plane is done, the camp trailer moved and the VW bus is towed home I finally got back to the 454HO game.

Rolled the engine over to the hoist, lifted off the dolly, pulled out the platform. Bolted on the flex plate and lowered it into the hole. It is down on the motor mounts so I could finally remove the hoist. There's only one dirt smudge on the dash panel for Kevin to clean. ROTFLMAO

Mary Ray's engine is back on the dolly, along with hoist frame, ready for the long trip home to Tennessee. Tooling Along

Still have a long way to go till done. Mechanic

Finally got back to work on 86Barth. Installed right side header and connected to exhaust yesterday, cleaned and painted some parts. Installed left side header and 2 new exhaust hangers today. Exhaust is done.

Starter is in but not wired. Water pump, alternator and mounting brackets are installed, also power steering pump. A few more days and it will be running. Photos soon! Mechanic

Still not done but moving a little. Front of engine is starting to look almost done, ready for radiator soon.

I will put more stuff back on top next, then wiring harnesses.

That little VW toad keeps distracting me. Mechanic

Concentration problems? Sign of an inventive resourceful mind.

My wife wishes I would tackle one project at a time. So much to do so little time.

I keep getting sidetracked...

Finally got back to 86Barth. Radiator back in, a few more items hooked up. Still have fuel injection and ignition system to install. Mechanic

Having read the discussion here on the forum and considering the additional torque from the new engine, I decided to modify the exhaust header clamps to spring style.

If the weather stays nice I'll be done soon! Thumbs Up
