Satin paint for plastic mirror housing
Any opinions out there on a good paint for the plastic housing of my mirrors? They will need to be cleaned regularly because of bug guts so I'm looking for something that will withstand the abuse.

Headed out to tape off mirrors now then bead blast what I can in prep for paint.

Careful on the bead blast. Actually Tere, walnut shells are better for cleaning plastic. Turn you air pressure down so you do not damage the old plastic. Use the same paint that is used on plastic bumpers. Gloss paint is easier to clean than satin or low gloss.

Goodsign
Tere,

Two-part urethanes cross linked are generally the most durable and are available in Central PA at auto paint suppliers in a specialized spray can containing both parts in various gloss levels. However, the drawbacks are the expense, the time acquiring the product, and the product contains hazardous isocyanate. All that said, Rustoleum makes a black satin "Trim & Bumper Paint" available at most WalMarts for a reasonable price that actually does a very nice job and is durable.

Good Luck,

John
