To all the pros out there, question? Walls are original in this breakaway. Twenty years old in fair to good condition. Some kind of thin plywood with a fine cloth covering. Can you paint this stuff and still get a nice finish or tear it out and replace. If paint or stain, what kind. Thank You.

Never painted the inside of a coach, but have pained over grass cloth wallpaper and linen wallpaper before. Most important seems to be to prime with a good stain blocker like Kiltz and make sure that both the primer and paint are thinned enough to get into the texture of the fabric. If you do it be sure to take pictures for us. Something others may want to do.

Mine did not have cloth walls originally, but I painted on 4+ coats of white and then paneled the bottom half of the walls. I used chair rail molding on the top of the paneling to break it up a little.

How bad are your walls? Are you able to cut into a section of this stuff in a closet to see how good the walls are underneath the fabric?

If you do this, and the walls are decent behind the fabric, you can use stained wood slat to break up the seams between each wall panel after you paint them.

I used 1x3's to edge the ceiling line.
