Is this the guy? http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/rvd/2874208434.html
If so, and you really paid $8900, you still are in a good coach for little money. We have seen much higher cost "projects" that turned out to be great coaches.

That's mine, I paid $7,500. avg. NADA was $7,450. but by the time I fix the brake system, levelers, axle bearing seal, replace the missing solar panel, figure out the front end wandering, I will be up in what I could of gotten a Barth for. And the tires that they said were '06 are actually '03

My radiator fan shroud is broken up with a big chunk missing at the bottom, the fan clutch looks new and there are some dings in the fan blades so I guess that was the cause, but I can't figure out if the shroud is a Ford part or someone else's, no response from the HMC people.
With most odd brand coaches there is usually a forum guru that has all the answers or has done it before, I can't get any answers on the HMC, also need a Oshkosh service manual, have searched online with no luck.

What's your vin#? Trying to see which Oshkosh chassis you have. Is it an Oshkosh MC-18FG?

IF it were me and it is not,I might take issue with your findings and what was posted.
"GOOD TIRES. This motorhome runs and drives great.

all systems are working. Call RON @ 817-235-2930"

IF they proved to not be understanding, your receipts for repair and a hundred posts from rv.net about tires could help with a legal action.

usually "sold as is" makes it harder to argue, but give it a try. What you got to loose.

Don't waste your time and frustration. Caveat Emptor, buyer beware. You had every right and opportunity to control the purchase "before" you signed an as-is agreement. You could have had it checked out by an independent dealer, a mechanic, a RV appraiser, but you did what most buyers do, you went it alone counting on you good luck or ability to know the real intentions of the seller.

Suck it up! You went to RV buyer's college. There is no difference between an ignorant seller and a crooked seller.

It won't be much consolation, but even had you bought a Barth, it's likely you'd need to take care of things - and possibly spend a couple of kilobucks in the process. "Good" tires to most people mean they have ample tread left, with no regard to age.

Some dealers lie outright and some don't bother to check anything out. In any event, the coach is 22 years old, and may have sat for a long time unused. That all adds up to repairs and maintenance will be needed.

VIN is 4CDB5XL2100124 haven't been able to figure out which chassis I have.
It bounces REALLY bad so I've been looking up shock part numbers and I can't even find a listing with any of the usual brands or parts houses online.

Sorry, I just read it off my insurance papers, so now I need to call them and get it corrected,
4CDB5XG2XL2100124
How do I tell which chassis it is ?.
I've been calling the last registered owner trying to get some details, and the combination to the floor safe, no response yet.
Does CarFax do motorhomes ?, would be nice to know more history.

call 864-206-8683 and talk to the parts department with that vin# - they'll be able to get pretty much any part for that unit. Ask them for the "chassis designation" and let me know - I might have a chassis manual for that unit.

The chassis designation in my 1991 Barth coach is an Oshkosh MC-18FG. See if they'll fax you a line sheet on it too.

Thanks a bunch !, I called Freightliner/Daimler at 1-800-FTL-HELP and they were very nice, said my chassis is also an MC-18FG, gave me some part numbers I needed and gave me more details, Dana 80 rear end, I feel a little better, not so much of an orphan as I thought.
